Phonics sounds from Sound City Reading
The phonics sound clips used in this site are included with kind permission from Kathryn Davis, author of Sound City Reading.
Sound City Reading is a rich phonics and spelling website with lessons, charts, sound guides, videos, and many teaching materials for parents, teachers, and children.
If you would like more structured phonics resources, it is well worth exploring her site.
Worksheets
Make spelling worksheets from the same word bank used in the games. You can use them on screen, print them, or download them.
A-Z Alphabet Sheet
Browse this alphabet sheet on screen or print it as a reference page. Each letter has its own sound button.
Build a worksheet
Pick the level and the kind of spelling practice you want. Worksheets use the same child-friendly word bank as the games.

Custom audio for this child
Record phonics sounds for letters and optional whole-word readouts for this child profile only.
Bundled whole-word clips placed in sounds/words work for every child automatically, and custom recordings override them for the selected child.
Why this site exists
This website was created with my niece, Phoebe, in mind.
The aim is to make spelling practice feel playful, calm, and encouraging for young children.
Because of that, this website is intended to remain free to use for children, parents, guardians, teachers, schools, and anyone supporting early spelling.
How learning progresses
The games start simply and gradually grow with the child.
Progression is based on success over time, so children can move forward at their own pace rather than being rushed.
Stars, puzzle pieces, and repeat practice are used to build confidence and reward effort.
Privacy and local saving
This website currently saves progress on the device only.
That means no online account is needed, and no child data is stored on an internet server.
The limitation is that if the child changes device, clears browser data, or uses a different browser, their progress will not carry over.
Phonics credit
The phonics sound clips are included with kind permission from Kathryn Davis, author of Sound City Reading.
Sound City Reading offers many additional resources for phonics, reading, and spelling, and is well worth exploring for families and schools.
Future plans
A future optional version may allow progress to be saved securely online so children can use multiple devices.
If that ever happens, the current free version would remain available. Nothing would be removed from free users, and the optional paid feature would only add synced accounts across devices.
